As we were running our Artist Program, we watched each artist walk out our door with a blank canvas, and come back with a whole little world, an entire unique reality, painted onto this little 8” x 8” square. It was during this time that we came across a quote that really struck a chord in us:
“A painter paints his pictures on canvas, but musicians paint their pictures on silence.”
It was then we knew that we had to run a Music Program.
What was Involved?
After seeing how much Artists enjoyed floating twice in one week, we decided to step it up a notch. Our musicians were put into a float regimen of 2 floats, all done over the course of 2 weeks. They had up to a month from their first float to create a piece of music.
We now use this music in our float tanks to let people know their sessions have come to an end, creating an entirely float generated experience.
The collected tracks from the 27 Portland bands involved have been released in a 3 CD set.
